Questions received after Pre-Proposal Conference:

July 7, 2008:

Question: For the Body Flange and Lid Flange, is it acceptable to use plate that is cut into a rectangle, rolled to the correct size, and welded with a complete joint penetration weld.  The material would meet the requirements on the drawing and the weld would be inspected identical to the other welds on the RLC assembly.

Answer: The drawing allows for rolling of body and lid flange, provided the material specifications as well as all final dimensional tolerances, including circularity are met.

Question:

In note 3 of drawing 165-F-007-WI Rev. H, it indicates that the canisters are to be equipped with “filters” per section 2.4 of the RH-TRAMPAC.  I am having trouble with this reference as I cannot find anything about filters in section 2.4 of any of the documents.  Can you please clarify this?  In the clarification, can you indicate if there is an exact filter and plug (mfr & part number) that we need to include in our quote?

Answer:  Per Specification E-I-446, RH TRU 72-B Cask Removable Lid Canister, Section 5.1.2, third paragraph states, “Install 4 threaded plugs or 4 filters or any combination thereof, as directed, in the filter ports. Filters will be supplied by generator site receiving the RLC”.
