Brief Description of the RFP: The DOE Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) has designated the RH-TRU 72-B Cask Removable Lid Canister (RLC) as a commodity to be supplied under the CBFO Centralized Procurement Program. WTS will establish either a requirements-type subcontract placed with one supplier or an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) subcontract with multiple awards for the RLCs to be used by the DOE Management and Operating Contractors (M&O), Management and Integration Contractors (M&I), and other prime contractors. The RLC was developed by WTS as the container for remote handled TRU Waste to be shipped to the WIPP in the RH-TRU 72-B shipping cask, and is certified as a U.S. Department of Transportation specification 7A (DOT 7A) Type A container. WTS is the RLC design authority. The RLC fabrication must comply with the specifications of the RH-TRU 72-B Cask Safety Analysis Report and the RLC design is partly controlled by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). |
