EML's Quality Assessment Program
The EML QAP was an external, independent, performance evaluation program designed to test the quality of environmental
radiological measurements. The program, funded by US ERDA and DOE and conducted under the Laboratory's former name of the
Environmental Measurements Laboratory (EML), was terminated in 2004. QAP Reports from 1977 - 1993
are not available in electronic format and are no longer available in hard copy.

The Gamma Spectrometry Data Evaluation Program
The Environmental Measurements Laboratory implemented the Gamma Spectrometry Evaluation Program in 1996 to provide an assessment
of the capabilities of the participating laboratories to perform routine gamma-ray spectra analysis. The Program's objective was
to be an aid to the participants by providing them with synthetic calibration, background and sample spectra, which test the
capability of the gamma analysis software and aid the spectroscopist to quantify radionuclides in spectra of varying complexities.
The test data was available on various media, e.g., floppy disks, tapes, CD-ROM or by e-mail in different formats
(Aptec, Canberra Genie, Canberra Spectran-AT, Canberra Sampo, Canberra Gamma-AT, IAEA Ganass, Nuclear Data Asap, Nucleus PCA,
Ortec Minigan, Ortec ACE, SILENA Silgamma, and SILENA EMCA plus). The synthetic spectra tested peak detection, deconvolution
of doublets, the sensitivity and capability of the spectrometry reduction system and the ability of the program to accurately
quantify the nuclides in a complex fission spectra.
